AN ACT AMENDING FURTHER SOME SECTIONS OF REPUBLIC ACT NUMBERED SEVEN HUNDRED AND EIGHT, OTHERWISE KNOWN AS THE "FOREIGN SERVICE ACT OF THE PHILIPPINES", CONCERNING SALARIES, ALLOWANCES, AND OTHER BENEFITS.1âшphi1

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Congress assembled:

Section 1. Sections one, two, and four, Part C, Title II, of Republic Act Numbered Seven hundred and eight are hereby further amended to read as follows:

Part C—Salaries

"Section 1. Chiefs of Mission.—The President shall, on the basis of the importance of the post and for salary purposes, classify into three classes the positions which are to be occupied by chiefs of mission.  The basic salaries of chiefs of mission per annum shall be as follows:

Class I P24,000.00
Class II 23,000.00
Class III 22,000.00

"Section 2. Foreign Service Officers.—There shall be four classes of foreign service officers, excluding the class of career minister.  The basic salary of a career minister per annum shall be twenty thousand pesos.  The basic salaries of foreign service officers per annum within each of the other classes shall be as follows:

Class I P16,800.00 P17,400.00 P18,000.00
Class II P15,000.00 P15,600.00 P16,200.00
Class III P13,200.00 P13,800.00 P14,400.00
Class IV P11,400.00 P12,000.00 P12,600.00

"Section 4.  Foreign Service Staff Officers and Employees.— There shall be three classes of foreign service staff officers and three classes of Foreign Service Staff employees.  Their basic salaries per annum shall be as follows:

Foreign Service Staff Officers

Class I P9,600.00 P9,900.00 P10,200.00
Class II P8,700.00 P9,000.00 P9,300.00
Class III P7,800.00 P8,100.00 P8,400.00

Foreign Service Staff Employees

Class I P6,600.00 P6,900.00 P7,200.00
Class II P5,700.00 P6,000.00 P6,300.00
Class III P4,800.00 P5,100.00 P5,400.00

Section 2. Section 1. Title VII of the same Act is hereby further amended to read as follows:

"Section 1. Implementation.—In order to implement the provisions of this Act, the Secretary shall effect the reorganization of the Department and the Foreign Service in accordance with the provisions of this Act and for this purpose he is authorized to reallot the funds provided for the Department in the General Appropriations Act for the fiscal year nineteen hundred seventy-one-nineteen hundred seventy-two: Provided, however, That any officer receiving the salary and allowances of a particular class of Foreign Service Officer at the time of the approval of this Act shall continue to receive the salary and allowances corresponding to the same class under the provisions of this Act.  In addition to the sum of two million five hundred thirty-two thousand sixty pesos appropriated under the provisions of Republic Act Numbered Four thousand one hundred and twelve, the sum of Two million nine hundred fifty-six thousand pesos is hereby authorized to be appropriated out of any unappropriated funds of the National Treasury to carry out the provisions of this Act, as amended."

Section 3.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
