[ REPUBLIC ACT NO. 6323, June 19, 1971 ]

AN ACT CONVERTING KABANKALAN PUERICULTURE CENTER IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF KABANKALAN, PROVINCE OF NEGROS OCCIDENTAL, INTO A MATERNITY ANE EMERGENCY HOSPITAL, AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS THEREFOR.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representative of the Philippines in Congress assembled:

Section 1. The Kabankalan Puericulture Center in the Municipality of Kabankalan, Province of Negros Occidental, is hereby converted into a maternity and emergency hospital under the Bureau of Medical Services, to be known as the Kabankalan Maternity and Emergency Hospital.  The chief of hospital shall be appointed by the Secretary of Health upon the recommendation of the Director o Medical Services.

Section 2. No person shall be appointed chief of the Kabankalan Maternity and Emergency Hospital unless he is a graduate of a medical college recognized by the government, has passed the examination for the practice of the medical profession given by the Board of Medical Examiners and has been in the actual practice of the medics profession for at least five years prior to his appointment.

Section 3. The Secretary of Health shall prescribe the rules and regulations for the establishment and operation of the hospital and shall also appoint the subordinate personnel of the same for its proper operation to carry into effect the purposes of this Act.1âшphi1

Section 4. The chief of the hospital shall exercise the powers, duties and functions that are generally granted to the chiefs of government hospitals.

Section 5. The sum of one hundred thousand pesos is hereby appropriated, out of any funds in the National Treasury not otherwise appropriated, for the operation and maintenance of the Kabankalan Maternity and Emergency Hospital for the fiscal year nineteen hundred seventy to nineteen hundred seventy-one and, thereafter, the same sum or so much thereof as may be necessary to carry into effect the purposes of this Act shall be included in the annual General Appropriations Act.

Section 6. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
