[ REPUBLIC ACT NO. 5969, June 21, 1969 ]

AN ACT AMENDING SECTION TWELVE OF REPUBLIC ACT NUMBERED FORTY-NINE HUNDRED AND SIXTY-EIGHT SO AS TO MAKE THE PROVISIONS OF THIS AMENDATORY ACT APPLICABLE TO FORMER MEMBERS OF THE GOVERNMENT SERVICE INSURANCE SYSTEM WHO HAD RETIRED ON OR BEFORE JUNE SIXTEEN, NINETEEN HUNDRED AND FIFTY-ONE, UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIONS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Congress assembled:

Section 1. Section twelve of Republic Act Numbered Forty-nine hundred and sixty-eight which amends Commonwealth Act Numbered One hundred and eighty-six, as amended, is amended to read as follows:

"Section 12. This Act shall take effect upon its approval: Provided, That the provisions of this amendatory Act shall also apply to all former members of the system (1) who are still living on the date of the approval of this Act; and (2) who had retired on or before June sixteen, nineteen hundred and fifty-one, under the provisions of Republic Act Numbered Six hundred and sixty, as amended, or Republic Act Numbered Sixteen hundred and sixteen, as amended: Provided, further, That the additional amounts or premiums necessary for the annuity of the former members of the System referred to herein due to the increase in their retirement benefits as provided for in this Act, shall be paid by the National Government: Provided, furthermore, That any increase in their annuity shall commence only from June seventeen, nineteen hundred and sixty-nine: And, provided, finally, That such additional amounts or premiums necessary to provided for such increase in retirement benefits, as may be determined by the System, are deemed appropriated in accordance with Section twenty-seven of Commonwealth Act Numbered One hundred and eighty-six, as amended, and shall form part of the equal yearly amortizations provided for in subsection (a) of Section seven of the said Act, as amended in Section four of said amendatory Act."

Section 2. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.1âшphi1
