[ REPUBLIC ACT NO. 5504, June 21, 1969 ]

IN ACT TO REMOVE THE LIMIT ON THE PERIOD OF REGISTRATION OF NEW VOTERS BY AMENDING SECTION EIGHT OF REPUBLIC ACT NUMBERED THIRTY-FIVE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY-EIGHT, AS RE-NUMBERED BY REPUBLIC ACT NUMBERED FORTY-SEVEN HUNDRED AND THIRTY.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Congress assembled:

Section 1. Section eight of Republic Act Numbered party-five hundred an  eighty-eight, as  renumbered  by Republic Act Numbered Forty-seven hundred and thirty 5 hereby further amended to read as follows:

"Section 8. Registration of Voters.—On any date after having acquired the qualification of a voter, but not later than sixty days before the day of any regular election not later than thirty days before he day of any special election, a qualified voter shall personally appear  before the election registrar of his city, municipality, or municipal district wherein he is domiciled and file with him a sworn application for registration in triplicate.

To facilitate filing of applications for registration the election registrar may hold office in any district, barrio or sitio within his jurisdiction, without any traveling allowance subject to the rules and regulations promulgated by  the  Commission  on  Elections.

Section 2. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.1a⍵⍴h!1
