REPUBLIC ACT No. 4056

An Act Authorizing the Appropriation of Funds to Improve Medical Education by Providing Financial Assistance to Private Medical Schools

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippine Congress Assembled:

Section 1. The Board of Medical Education is authorized to give financial assistance to private medical schools in a sum not to exceed five hundred thousand pesos each per year under the following conditions:

(a) That such private medical school maintains a standard of medical education acceptable to the Board of Medical Education; and

(b) That such private medical school maintains at least one hundred hospitals beds and corresponding facilities for the care of the medically indigent of our country.

Section 2. The Board of Medical Education is authorized to prescribe and promulgate rules and regulations for the proper implementation of this Act.

Section 3. It is hereby authorized that one sweepstakes draw be held each year, the proceeds of which shall be used exclusively to implement the provisions of this Act.

Section 4. For the purpose of this Act, there is hereby authorized to be appropriated the sum of three million pesos from the forced savings of the appropriations for the Departments of Education and Health in equal proportion for the fiscal year July first, nineteen hundred sixty-four to June thirty, nineteen hundred sixty-five. In subsequent fiscal years, such sums as may be determined by the Board of Medical Education for such financial assistance as prescribed in this Act shall be appropriated annually in the General Appropriations Act.

Section 5. All laws, rules and regulations, and orders inconsistent with this Act or any of its provisions are hereby repealed.£a⩊phi£

Section 6. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
