DECLARING 12 SEPTEMBER 2009 AS NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER FOR PEACE AND SANCTIFICATION OF SPIRITUAL LEADERS

WHEREAS, the promotion of peace and unity among the Filipino people is a national responsibility;

WHEREAS, there is a need to pray for grace for the sanctification of our spiritual leaders to enable them to inspire and set a compassionate and moral leadership amongst our people;

WHEREAS, with the many challenges faced by our nation today, every Filipino needs to set aside differences and to join hands to endeavor in working towards the common good;

WHEREAS, a day devoted to prayer for peace process and unity and sanctification of our spiritual leaders may serve in furtherance the achievement of these goals;

WHEREAS, in order to reaffirm the fulfillment of these goals through personal change leading towards transformation of our national life, September 12 of last year has been declared a National Day of Prayer for Peace and Reconciliation for our Nation.1aшphi1

NOW, THEREFORE, I, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, President of the Republic of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare 12 September 2009 as a National Day of Prayer for Peace and Sanctification of Spiritual Leaders.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
