DECLARING MONDAY, APRIL 27, 2009 AS SPECIAL (NON-WORKING) DAY IN THE CITY OF LAPU-LAPU

WHEREAS, Monday, April 27, 2009, marks the 488th anniversary of the Battle of Mactan, which has been described now as the “KADAUGAN SA MACTAN”, a cultural and historical event for the City of Lapu-Lapu;

WHEREAS, the Battle of Mactan is among the significant events in Philippine history and serves as testimony to the rich cultural and historical heritage of the Filipinos; and

WHEREAS, it is but fitting and proper that the residents of the City of Lapu-Lapu be given full opportunity to celebrate the occasion with appropriate ceremonies.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, EDUARDO R. ERMITA, Executive Secretary, by authority of Her Excellency, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, do hereby declare Monday, April 27, 2009, as special (non-working) day in the City of Lapu-Lapu.1aшphi1
