DECLARING FRIDAY, AUGUST 22, 2008, AS SPECIAL (NON-WORKING) DAY IN THE CITY OF DAVAO

WHEREAS, the City of Davao has traditionally held a week-long Kadayawan Festival on August 18 to 24, 2008 as an annual thanksgiving by the tri-people and the City Government of Davao for the years bountiful harvest;

WHEREAS, the Kadayawan Festival is also an occasion for the various indigenous communities to display their peculiar cultural sports and distinct tribal arts, crafts and their significant contributions to Davao Citys development and rich culture;

WHEREAS, it is but fitting and proper that the people of the City of Davao, be given full opportunity to celebrate the occasion with appropriate ceremonies.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, EDUARDO R. ERMITA, Executive Secretary, by authority of Her Excellency, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, do hereby declare Friday, August 22, 2008, as special (non-working) day in the City of Davao as Indigenous Peoples Day and Kadayawan sa Davao Festival.1aшphi1
