DECLARING MONDAY, NOVEMBER 5, 2007, AS SPECIAL (NON-WORKING) DAY IN THE PROVINCE OF QUEZON

WHEREAS, Monday, November 5, 2007, marks the death anniversary of Apolinario de la Cruz, better known as “Hermano Puli“, the great man from Lukban, Quezon;

WHEREAS, Hermano Pule rendered invaluable service in our country by founding the brotherhood popularly known as Confradia De Jesus;

WHEREAS, the brotherhood or religious organization that Hermano Pule founded spread like wildfire in the Province of Tayabas (now Quezon, Laguna and some towns in Batangas) which historical research has proved as one way of showing nationalism during that time;

WHEREAS, it is but fitting and proper to honor and emulate the heroism and patriotism of Apolinario (Hermano Puli) de la Cruz and give the people of Quezon Province full opportunity to commemorate the event with appropriate ceremonies.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, EDUARDO R. ERMITA, Executive Secretary, by authority of Her Excellency, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, do hereby declare Monday, November 5, 2007, as special (non-working) day in the Province of Quezon.1aшphi1
