[ Proclamation No. 1338, July 24, 2007 ]
DECLARING 2008 AS VISIT TEACHERS CAMP YEAR AND MANDATING THE THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION TO ENSURE APPROPRIATE CELEBRATIONS
WHEREAS, the Baguio Teachers Camp has attained national recognition as a center of education and as an ideal rest and recreation facility in the Summer Capital since opening its gates to the public on April 16, 1908;
WHEREAS, what was established by the American Thomasites as an ideal vacation and summer haven for teachers and employees as well as retirees of the Department of Education has become a center of education contributing to the development of Philippine education at all levels by providing a proper venue for the professional growth of hundreds of public and private school teachers;
WHEREAS, the Camp will celebrate its 100th Anniversary in 2008;
WHEREAS, in order to enhance awareness of its contribution to the development of Philippine education, it is fitting that appropriate ceremonies are held to accord due recognition to its 100th year of service not only to the Filipino teacher but also to the Filipino people;
NOW, THEREFORE I, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the year 2008 as “Visit Teachers Camp Year.”
The Department of Education is hereby mandated to ensure that appropriate year-long activities are conducted to mark the Camps centenary
The amount of Ten Million Pesos (P10,000,000.00) chargeable against the National Endowment Fund of the National Commission on Culture and the Arts, which is hereby affirmed to be under the oversight of the Department of Education, is hereby authorized to be released to carry out the provisions of this Proclamation. Any deficiency shall be charged against the regular budget of the Department of Education.1aшphi1
All departments, bureaus, offices and instrumentalities of government are hereby enjoined to give full support and cooperation to the Department of Education in the exercise of its tasks under this Proclamation
