DECLARING JULY 20, 2007 AS “PERIPHERAL ARTERIAL DISEASE (PAD) AWARENESS DAY”

WHEREAS, the Institute for the Studies of Diabetes Foundation, Incorporated is a non-stock corporation which is involved in addressing the prevalence of diabetes in the country by providing its members better access to medical treatment and updated scientific know-how;

WHEREAS, there is a need to sustain awareness on Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD) as one of the complications of Diabetes considering that about 20% of the countrys population is suffering from PAD;

WHEREAS, in order to improve the information drive on PAD which focuses on the prevention and disease awareness, it is proper to commemorate a “Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD) Awareness Day” that will benefit numerous PAD patients nationwide from the free services for the day, to include screening, lay forum, distribution of disease-awareness materials and starter doses for patients;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, GLORIA MACAPAGAL ARROYO, President of the Republic of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare July 20, 2007 as “Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD) Awareness Day”.
