DECLARING JULY 2-8, 2007 AS YMCA OF MANILA CENTENNIAL WEEK

WHEREAS, YMCA (Young Mens Christian Association) of Manila was organized on July 6, 1907, by the Americans, to demonstrate the value of the Association to the citizens of the Philippines;

WHEREAS, YMCA of Manila under an all Filipino leadership has been regarded as a pillar of Christian, social and youth development with a distinct identity as builder of Christian Character, Mobilizer of People and Institutional Resources, and Manager of Change for the Transformation of the Community and the Nation;

WHEREAS, YMCA of Manila has served and continues to serve the youth and the community, through various programs and activities helping develop the youth to attain high standards of Christian character and enhance their leadership skills and potentials;

WHEREAS, YMCA of Manila is now celebrating a century of service, a new century of success;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, President of the Republic of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare July 2-8, 2007 as YMCA of Manila Centennial Week in the Philippines.

All departments, agencies and instrumentalities of the national government are enjoined to extend its cooperation and assistance to the YMCA of Manila in celebrating with appropriate ceremonies and programs the role played by the YMCA of Manila in promoting deep sense of social consciousness and responsible citizenship training.1aшphi1
