[ Proclamation No. 1208, January 4, 2007 ]

DECLARING FRIDAY AND MONDAY, JANUARY 12 AND 15, 2007, RESPECTIVELY, AS SPECIAL (NON-WORKING) DAYS IN THE CITIES OF CEBU, MANDAUE AND LAPU-LAPU

WHEREAS, the Cities of Cebu, Mandaue and Lapu-Lapu will host the ASEAN Summit on January 12 to 15, 2007;

WHEREAS, it is but fitting and proper that the people of these cities be given full opportunity to participate in this important event;

WHEREAS, there is a need to exempt the business and private sectors so as not to unduly hamper their continued operations during the two-day holiday.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, EDUARDO R. ERMITA, Executive Secretary, by authority of Her Excellency, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, do hereby declare the following:

1. The special (non-working) days, Monday and Friday, January 12 and 15, 2007, respectively, shall apply only to government employees at all levels in the Cities of Cebu, Mandaue and Lapu-Lapu, except those required to render emergency, security, export transactions services, services related to aforementioned as the agency concerned may determine, and the skeleton workforce that every agency may opt to maintain during this period.

2. Classes at all levels in both public and private schools are suspended for the duration of the two-day holiday.1aшphi1

3. The private sector is exempted from this proclamation.
