DECLARING NOVEMBER 1999 AS PHILIPPINES-CANADA FRIENDSHIP MONTH

WHEREAS, relations between the Philippines and Canada started in November 1949, when the two countries first established consular relations, which was elevated to diplomatic level in 1971;

WHEREAS, the Philippines adheres to and adopts the policy of cooperation and amity with all nations;

WHEREAS, the Philippines and Canada have maintained harmonious and dynamic cooperation in the economic, political and cultural areas for the past fifty years; and

WHEREAS, it is proper and fitting that the fifty years of friendship between the Philippines and Canada should be bestowed with official recognition.1aшphi1

NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOSEPH EJERCITO ESTRADA, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the power vested in me by law, do hereby declare November 1999 as “Philippines-Canada Friendship Month”.

IN WITNESS, WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
