[ Proclamation No. 187, October 1, 1999 ]

AUTHORIZING THE YOUNG MENS CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATION (YMCA) OF MANILA TO CONDUCT A NATIONAL FUND CAMPAIGN FOR A PERIOD OF ONE (1) YEAR

WHEREAS, the YMCA of Manila is a non-stock and non-profit civic organization whose purposes include the promotion of understanding among peoples of all faiths, to the end that the brotherhood of men under the Fatherhood of God may be fostered in an atmosphere of mutual respect and understanding;

WHEREAS, the YMCA has pursued laudable programs, of character building and citizenship training among the youth of our land;

WHEREAS, with its continuous training programs and the opportunities for leadership it has given to many of its youth members over the years, the YMCA of Manila has exerted and continues to exert influence in the development of a responsible citizenry imbued with a deep sense of social consciousness;

WHEREAS, its limited income and resources cannot adequately cope with its present program thrusts for the development of the youth of our land and prepare them for better citizenship;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOSEPH EJERCITO ESTRADA, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby authorize the YMCA of Manila to conduct a fund campaign for a period of one (1) year effective upon the promulgation of this Proclamation.1aшphi1

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
