[ Proclamation No. 104, May 6, 1999 ]

DECLARING THURSDAY, MAY 6, 1999, AS A SPECIAL DAY IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF BALIUAG, PROVINCE OF BULACAN

WHEREAS, the Sangguniang Bayan of Baliuag, Bulacan adopted and approved Resolution No. 11-99 dated February 5, 1999, declaring May 6, 1999 as the centennial celebration of the founding of the Municipality of Baliuag;

WHEREAS, May 6, 1899 marks the first election of an alcalde (municipal mayor) to head a township by a popular vote and not by appointment of the King of Spain, through the Philippine Governor-General;

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the people of the Municipality of Baliuag be given full opportunity to celebrate the occasion with appropriate ceremonies.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOSEPH EJERCITO ESTRADA, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me in Book I, Chapter 7, Section 27, of the Administrative Code of 1987, do hereby declare Thursday, May 6, 1999, as a special day in the Municipality of Baliuag, Province of Bulacan.1aшphi1
