[ Proclamation No. 453, August 21, 1989 ]

FURTHER AMENDING PROCLAMATION NO. 429 DATED JULY 19, 1989 DECLARING THE EXISTENCE OF A STATE OF PUBLIC CALAMITY IN CERTAIN AREAS OF REGIONS I AND II.

WHEREAS, based on the assessment report of the Secretary of National Defense as Chairman of the National Disaster Coordinating Council (NDCC), the flooding which occurred on April, May and June 1989 in Region XII due to continuous rainfall brought about by the presence of tropical storms “Bining” and “Kuring”, caused extensive destruction to crops and infrastructures in the Provinces of Maguindanao, Lanao del Sur and Sultan Kudarat;

WHEREAS, as reported by the RDC Chairman of Region XII, at least eight (8) municipalities in the said provinces are still under water; and

WHEREAS, the declaration of the existence of a state of public calamity in the aforesaid municipalities is deemed necessary to hasten the restoration of damaged infrastructures as well as extension of assistance to farmers whose crops were badly damaged.1aшphi1

NOW, THEREFORE, I, CORAZON C. AQUINO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby further amend Proclamation No. 429 dated July 19, 1989 declaring the existence of a state of public calamity in certain areas of Regions I and II, to include therein the following Municipalities in Region XII:

Maguindanao Sultan Kudarat Lanao del Sur
Kabuntalan Bagumbayan Taraka
Datu Piang Esperanza Malundo
Sultan Sa Barungis
Maguing

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
