[ Proclamation No. 1153, June 14, 1973 ]

DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM JUNE 17 TO 24, 1973 AS “NATIONAL INTEGRATION WEEK”

WHEREAS, it is the declared government policy to integrate and assimilate the cultural minorities into the national mainstream;

WHEREAS, the Commission on National Integration, which was created in 1957, has made great strides towards such integration; and

WHEREAS, it is necessary to focus national attention on the cultural minorities, thus enhancing mutual understanding and respect of the majority and the minorities for each other’s culture;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, ALEJANDRO MELCHOR, Executive Secretary, by order of His Excellency, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, in recognition of the necessity of effecting in a more rapid and complete manner the economic, social, moral and political advancement of the cultural minorities and their integration into the body politic, do hereby declare the period from June 17 to 24, 1973, as “National Integration Week.”
