DECLARING THE MONTH OF MAY AS YOUTH AND STUDENT TRAVEL MONTH AND DESIGNATING THE YSTAPHIL AS THE COORDINATING BODY FOR STUDENT TRAVEL ACTIVITIES IN THE MAY FESTIVAL

WHEREAS, domestic tourism, especially among the youth and students, is a matter of national concern and should receive the full support and cooperation of all government agencies having to do with this endeavor;

WHEREAS, in order to attain the national goals in tourism growth and development, a program tie-up has been launched between the Department of Trade and Tourism, the Department of Education and Culture and the Youth and Student Travel Association of the Philippines;

WHEREAS, in the implementation of this program tie-up several projects have been initiated to create an impact among youth and students to tour the country through organized means or individual travels;

WHEREAS, the summer vacations of the students can be utilized to participate in domestic tours and travels and inasmuch as this will be the first summer vacation season under the New Society, the same will provide the necessary impetus for domestic travel to become a habit among the youth and students; and

WHEREAS, the Youth and Student Travel Association of the Philippines has been identified principally with youth and student travel and being the executive arm of the Department of Trade and Tourism, the Department of Education and Culture, the UNESCO, and civic associations for various activities relative to student travel scheduled for the summer season;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, ALEJANDRO MELCHOR, Executive Secretary, by order of His Excellency, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, do hereby declare the month of May as the Youth and Student Travel Month and designate the Youth and Student Travel Association of the Philippines (YSTAPHIL) as the coordinating body of all youth and student travel and tourism activities in the May Festival.1aшphi1
