[ Proclamation No. 958, January 31, 1972 ]

AUTHORIZING THE PHILIPPINE CANCER SOCIETY, INC., TO CONDUCT A NATIONAL EDUCATIONAL, MEMBERSHIP AND FUND DRIVE DURING THE PERIOD FROM FEBRUARY 1 TO JUNE 30, 1972.

WHEREAS, the Philippine Cancer Society, Inc., having successfully pioneered and spearheaded the move towards the prevention and control of cancer, envisions the extension of its free medical services to the rural areas through the establishment of local chapters;

WHEREAS, statistics gathered by the Society from various local clinics and hospitals shows that the prevalence of cancer among rural people particularly is increasing every year; and

WHEREAS, in order to carry out the worthy objectives of the Society, it needs the continued support and cooperation of the public;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, ALEJANDRO MELCHOR, Executive Secretary, by order of His Excellency, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, do hereby authorize the Philippine Cancer Society, Inc., to conduct a national educational, membership and fund drive during the period from February 1 to June 30, 1972. I enjoin all citizens and residents of the Philippines, irrespective of nationality, race or creed, to assist generously in this humanitarian endeavor.1aшphi1
