[ Proclamation No. 1071, September 4, 1972 ]

DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM NOVEMBER 19 TO 25, 1972 AS FAMILY PLANNING WEEK.

WHEREAS, rapid population growth is one of the gravest problems facing the country today;

WHEREAS, one of the solutions to this problem is long-range population education and family planning programs; and

WHEREAS, there is a need to call the attention of the public on the seriousness of the problem and the solutions presented by population education and family planning;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, ALEJANDRO MELCHOR, Executive Secretary, by order of His Excellency, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, do hereby declare the period from November 19 to 25, 1972, as Family Planning Week, designating the Family Planning Organization of the Philippines and the Population Commission to coordinate all publicity and promotional efforts necessary therefor, and exhorting all agencies, institutions and organizations, both public and private, to extend assistance and cooperation for the successful observance of the week.

Proclamation No. 883 dated August 2, 1971, is hereby modified accordingly.
