DECLARING CERTAIN DAYS AS SPECIAL PUBLIC HOLIDAYS IN CONNECTION WITH THE CENTENARY OF FATHERS JOSE BURGOS, MARIANO GOMEZ AND JACINTO ZAMORA.
WHEREAS, 1972 marks the centenary of the execution of Fathers Jose Burgos, Mariano Gomez and Jacinto Zamora; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper to honor the three priests whose martyrdom is an inspiration to the Filipino people;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, ALEJANDRO MELCHOR, Executive Secretary, by order of His Excellency, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, do hereby declare the following days as special public holidays in the places indicated:
January 20 (Thursday)—the first day of the Revolt of 1872:— in the- province of Cavite and cities of Cavite, Tagaytay and Trece Martires
February 9 (Wednesday)—the birthday of Jose Burgos— in Vigan, Ilocos Sur;
February 17 (Thursday)—the execution of the three priests— in the whole country;
August 2 (Wednesday)—birthday of Mariano Gomez—in Bacoor, Cavite; andd
August 14 (Monday)—birthday of Jacinto Zamora—in Manila.
