[ Proclamation No. 886, August 16, 1971 ]

DECLARING TUESDAY, AUGUST 31, 1971, AS a SPECIAL PUBLIC HOLIDAY IN THE PROVINCE OF ZAMBALES AND OLONGAPO CITY.

WHEREAS, the sixty-second birthday of the late President Ramon Magsaysay falls on August 31, 1971;

WHEREAS, in the few years that God gave him to serve our people, President Magsaysay made himself a true brother and earnest defender of the common man, dedicated himself to improving the public service and did everything for the advancement of the Republic; and

WHEREAS, it is but fitting that at least the people of his birthplace be afforded full opportunity to celebrate his birthday with appropriate ceremonies;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, ALEJANDRO MELCHOR, Executive Secretary, by order of His Excellency, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, do hereby declare Tuesday, August 31, 1971, as a special public holiday in the province of Zambales and Olongapo City.
