DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM FEBRUARY 14 TO MARCH 14, 1971, AS “PHILIPPINE HEART MONTH.”

WHEREAS, statistics show an increasing incidence of heart disease as a cause of death in the Philippines;

WHEREAS, heart diseases, which hit mostly the adult population, particularly the bread-winners, can be controlled: and

WHEREAS, it is desirable to generate public awareness on the importance of having healthy hearts for a healthy nation;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, ALEJANDRO MELCHOR, Executive Secretary, by order of His Excellency, FERDINAND E. MARCOS President of the Philippines, do hereby declare the period from February 14 to March 14, 1971, as “Philippine Heart Month” under the auspices of the Philippine Heart Association, Inc., and other concerned organizations,
