[ Proclamation No. 807, February 2, 1971 ]

FURTHER EXTENDING THE NATIONAL EDUCATION AND FUND CAMPAIGN OF THE PANAMIN FOUNDATION, INC., UNTIL FEBRUARY 28, 1972.

WHEREAS, the PANAMIN Foundation, Inc., was authorized under Proclamation No. 517 dated February 11, 1969, to conduct a national educational fund campaign from March 1, 1969, to February 28, 1970, for the purpose of raising much-needed funds with which to carry on its various humanitarian projects for the benefit of our national minorities, who comprise more than twelve per cent of our national population;

WHEREAS, under Proclamation No. 669 dated March 21, 1970, the PANAMIN National Education and Fund Campaign was extended until February 28, 1971, to enable it to achieve its goal;

WHEREAS, the series of natural disasters in 1970, notably Typhoon Yoling, and the preoccupation of our people with important events such as the election of delegates to the Constitutional Convention and the visit of His Holiness, Pope Paul VI, interrupted the progress of the PANAMIN Fund Campaign and prevented it from realizing its goal of P3 million within the official campaign period;

WHEREAS, the commendable program of social welfare being undertaken by PANAMIN deserves to be maintained in order to ameliorate the condition of our national minorities; and

WHEREAS, to enable the PANAMIN Foundation to carry on its laudable activities, it is necessary that its fund campaign be extended for another year.1aшphi1

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the authority vested in me by law, do hereby further extend the national educational and fund drive of the PANAMIN Foundation, Inc., until February 28, 1972. I call upon all citizens and residents of the Philippines, irrespective of nationality, race or creed, to assist in this humanitarian endeavor by giving generously of their means. I further call upon all national, provincial, city and municipal government officials, as well as on all school teachers and students throughout the land, to actively participate in and support the fund campaign. I further authorize the PANAMIN Foundation, Inc., to expand its educational and fund campaign to foreign countries, especially Japan and the United States, to enable the civic-spirited elements among our foreign friends to participate in this noble mission.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.

Done in the City of Manila, this 2nd day of February, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and seventy-one.
