[ Proclamation No. 699, August 25, 1960 ]

DECLARING THE LAST WEEK OF AUGUST OF EVERY YEAR AS BARRIO COUNCILS’ WEEK

WHEREAS, the barrios are the foundation of our economic and democratic way of life;

WHEREAS, the welfare are, progress, and prosperity of every barrio depend to a large measure upon the barrio council created by Republic Act No. 2370;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Carlos P. Garcia, President of the Philippines, do hereby declare the last week of August of every year as Barrio Councils’ Week.1aшphi1

Proclamation No. 433, dated August 12, 1957, is hereby repealed.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.

Done in the City of Manila, this 25th day of August, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and sixty, and of the Independence of the Philippines, the fifteenth.
