[ Proclamation No. 593, June 2, 1959 ]

DECLARING JUNE 15, 1959, AS I. L. O. DAY

WHEREAS, a world-wide celebration of the fortieth anniversary of the International Labour Organization (ILO) is scheduled for June 15, 1959; and

WHEREAS, the Republic of the Philippines is one of the duly-accredited member nations of the I.L.O., an organization that has in no small measure proven itself to be an effective forum for the free exchange of ideas for the uplift of the welfare of workingmen all over the world and the improvement of labor-management relationship strengthened by a spirit of cooperation and mutual understanding;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, CARLOS P. GARCIA, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare June 15, 1959, as I.L.O. Day. I call upon all government offices and instrumentalities, particularly the Department of Labor, as well as labor and management groups, to participate in the proper observance of the day and to dedicate future efforts to the laudable aim of the I.L.O. in promoting social justice for a better and more lasting world peace through the tripartite co­operation of labor, management, and government.1aшphi1

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
