MALACAÑAN PALACE MANILA BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE PHILIPPINES [ Proclamation No. 592, June 2, 1959 ] DECLARING JULY 4, 1959, AS THE FORMAL INAUGURATION AND ESTABLISHMENT OF THE TWO NEW PROVINCES OF LANAO DEL NORTE AND LANAO DEL SUR WHEREAS, Republic Act No. 2228, approved on May 22, 1959, created the provinces of Lanao del Norte and Lanao del Sur; WHEREAS, Section 10 of the said Act provides that the two new provinces of Lanao del Norte and Lanao del Sur shall be considered to have been formally established upon proclamation by the President of the Philippines. NOW, THEREFORE, I, CARLOS P. GARCIA, President of the Philippines, pursuant to the provisions of said Section 10 of Republic Act No. 2228, do hereby proclaim that the formal establishment and inauguration of the Provinces of Lanao del Norte and Lanao del Sur shall take place on July 4, 1959.
