Subject: Creating a Presidential Task Force on Ancestral Domains to assist the Office of the President, through the Presidential Assistant for Poverty Alleviation, NGO and PO, in monitoring compliance with existing laws regarding the rights and welfare of Indigenous Peoples to their ancestral domains

In the interest of public service, and pursuant to the States constitutional mandate to protect the rights of indigenous peoples to their ancestral domains (sec. 5, Art. XII, Philippine Constitution), the Presidential Task Force on Ancestral Domains is hereby created, composed of recognized leaders of the indigenous peoples, to be headed by the Presidential Assistant for Poverty Alleviation, NGO and PO as Chairperson, with the following members:

The Task Force shall coordinate with the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples, through its Executive Director, and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, through a designated representative of the Secretary, in the matter of extending assistance to indigenous cultural communities for the recognition, protection and development of their ancestral domains.

The members of the Task Force, except the Chairperson, are entitled to such reasonable honoraria as may be allowed by law.

All concerned government offices are hereby ordered to provide the necessary assistance to the Task Force to meet its objectives. The Task Force shall submit a comprehensive report to the Office of the President after six months from date hereof.

This Order takes effect immediately.
