[ EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 217, March 21, 1970 ]

CHANGING THE COMPOSITION OF THE SPECIAL COMMITTEE ON SCHOLARSHIPS CREATED UNDER THE CABINET RESOLUTION DATED JUNE 6, 1956

WHEREAS, there is necessity to insure that the skilled manpower requirements of the Economic Program of the Government are met through the efficacious use of foreign-assisted training programs available to the Government; and

WHEREAS, the Government needs an appropriate coordinating committee to assess scholarship offers or requests in relation to the needs of the various government offices;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby amend the composition of the Special Committee on Scholarships created under the Cabinet Resolution of June 6, 1956, as follows:

Chairman, National Economic Council - Chairman
Director-General, Presidential Economic Staff - Vice-Chairman
Secretary of Foreign Affairs - Member
Secretary of Education - Member

The Chairman and members of the Committee may designate qualified and competent representatives to act in their stead.

The Special Committee shall continue to exercise the powers and responsibilities vested upon it by the Cabinet Resolution creating the Special Committee on Scholarships, dated June 6, 1956, and Executive Order No. 129, dated May 6, 1968.

The National Economic Council shall serve as the Secretariat of the Special Committee and shall render the necessary staff support and technical assistance.

Cabinet Resolution of June 6, 1956, Executive Order No. 129, series of 1968, and all other executive orders, circulars, and rules and regulations, issued by the Office of the President or by any department, bureau, office, or agency, including government-owned or controlled corporations, inconsistent herewith, are hereby modified, amended or repealed accordingly.

This Order shall take effect immediately.
