[ EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 146, August 27, 1968 ]

CREATING A COMMITTEE TO UNDERTAKE THE INSPECTION OF ALL PUBLIC AND PRIVATE BUILDINGS DAMAGED BY THE RECENT EARTHQUAKES

WHEREAS, immeasurable loss of lives and damage to property have been wrought by the recent earthquake which rocked Manila and neighboring cities and provinces; and

WHEREAS, in order to forestall further loss of lives, it is necessary that all public and private buildings damaged by the earthquake be inspected to determine which of them are unsafe for continued use or occupancy;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby create a committee to undertake the inspection of all public and private buildings damaged by the recent earthquake, composed of the following:

The Committee shall inspect or cause to be inspected all public and private buildings in Manila and in all areas affected by the earthquake and recommend the reconstruction or demolition of all those that are unsafe for continued use or occupancy.1aшphi1

The Committee may call any government department, bureau, office or agency for such assistance as it may need, or create sub-committees as may be necessary for the accomplishment of its task.
