[ EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 2, December 31, 1961 ]

REVOKING UNNUMBERED EXECUTIVE ORDER, DATED FEBRUARY 13, 1959, ENTITLED, “DESIGNATING THE RPS LAPU-LAPU AS THE FLAGSHIP OF THE PHILIPPINE NAVY,” AND ORDERING THE SALE OF SAID VESSEL AT PUBLIC AUCTION

WHEREAS, in an unnumbered Executive Order, dated February 13, 1959, the RPS LAPU-LAPU was designated as the flagship of the Philippine Navy;

WHEREAS, the acquisition of the said vessel is not in consonance with the spirit and objectives of the Law on Reparations;

WHEREAS, retention of the said vessel is against the economic interest of the government and against the spirit of simple living;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, DIOSDADO MACAPAGAL, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by the Constitution and laws of the Philippines, do hereby revoke the aforesaid unnumbered Executive Order, dated February 13, 1959, and order the sale of the RPS LAPU-LAPU at public auction under the supervision of the General Auditing Office pursuant to the provisions of section 640 of the Revised Administrative Code.

The General Auditing Office is hereby authorized to call upon any department, bureau, office, agency, or instrumentality of the Government, including government-owned or controlled corporations, for such assistance or information as it may need in the sale of the RPS LAPU-LAPU.

Done in the City of Manila, this 31st day of December, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and sixty-one, and of the Independence of the Philippines, the sixteenth.1âшphi1
