[ EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 508, June 09, 1952 ]

AUTHORIZING THE COLLECTION OF VOLUNTARY CONTRIBUTIONS FOR THE “UNANG SIGAW” MONUMENT IN BALINTAWAK AND CREATING A COMMITTEE FOR THAT PURPOSE.

WHEREAS, the “Unang Sigaw” monument in Balintawak being in such poor condition as to be hardly worthy of the historical event which it commemorates, it is desirable that the same be replaced by one of bronze and marble;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, ELPIDIO QUIRINO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby authorize the collection of voluntary contributions with which to finance the construction of a better “Unang Sigaw” monument in Balintawak to replace the present one.

A Committee to take charge of the campaign for such funds is hereby created composed of the following:

Hon. Ignacio Santos Diaz Member

Mr. Fanstino Aguilar Member

On the basis of the total collection and whatever additional sum the Government may appropriate and assign therefor, the Committee is empowered to undertake and supervise the construction of a new “Unang Sigaw” monument in Balintawak, waiving all existing rules and regulations on government bids and awards for public constructions in order that said project may be completed in the most expeditious and convenient manner.

Done in the City of Manila, this 9th day of June, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and fifty-two, and of the Independence of the Philippines, the sixth.1a⍵⍴h!1
