[ EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 288, October 21, 1949 ]

AMENDING EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 278 ENTITLED “ORGANIZING A PORTION OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF BURAUEN, PROVINCE OF LEYTE, INTO A SEPARATE MUNICIPALITY, UNDER THE NAME OF JULITA.”

Executive Order No. 278 entitled “Organizing a portion of the municipality of Burauen, Province of Leyte, into a separate municipality, under the name of Julita” is hereby amended by inserting before the penultimate paragraph thereof the following:

Provided, that the barrios which are hereby made a part of Julita shall become incorporated therein only when, in a plebiscite which the Secretary of the Interior shall direct to be held for the purpose, the people of the said barrios vote in favor of said incorporation, otherwise they shall remain as now a part of the municipality of Burauen;”

and by striking from said penultimate paragraph the” phrase: “but in no case earlier than November 15, 1949” and placing in its stead the phrase “but in no case later than fifteen days from the date of the approval by the Secretary of the Interior of the result of the plebiscite, should the result of the plebiscite be for the organization of Julita as hereinabove constituted.”
