[ EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 226, June 15, 1949 ]

APPROPRIATING THE SUM OF P6,000,000 TO DEFRAY THE EXPENSES, IN CONNECTION WITH, AND INCIDENTAL TO, THE HOLDING OF THE NATIONAL ELECTIONS TO BE HELD ON THE SECOND TUESDAY OF NOVEMBER, 1949

WHEREAS, the First Congress of the Philippines in its fourth session failed to pass an Act appropriating funds for the national elections to be held on the second Tuesday of November, 1949; and

WHEREAS, it is imperative that funds be provided for the holding of said elections;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, ELPIDIO QUIRINO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by the Constitution and existing laws, particularly Commonwealth Act No. 671, do hereby order:

Section 1. There is hereby appropriated out of any funds in the Philippine Treasury not otherwise appropriated the sum of P6,000,000 or so much thereof as may be necessary for the payment, subject to the approval of the Commission on Elections, of the expenses of the national elections to be held on the second Tuesday of November, 1949.

Section 2. This Order shall take effect immediately.
