[ EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 268, April 25, 1940 ]

REQUIRING THE PROMPT AND DIRECT SUBMISSION OF PAPERS TO THE AUDITOR GENERAL

For the purpose of facilitating and expediting the examination, audit and settlement of all accounts pertaining to the revenues, receipts and expenditures of government funds or property, I, MANUEL L. QUEZON, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by the Constitution and existing laws, do hereby direct the proper Department Head, chief of bureau or office, officer or employee of the National, provincial, municipal or city government, or of any entity or instrumentality of the Government, to submit promptly and directly or show to the Auditor General or to his authorized representative, as may be required by either of them, the original of any order, deed, contract, document or other papers under which any collection of, or payment from, government funds may be made, together with the certificates, receipts, or other evidence in connection therewith.

In case the Auditor General or his authorized representative needs authenticated copies of such papers for record purposes, the same shall be furnished upon request.

Any violation of this Order shall subject the offending officer or employee to administrative action, including removal from office.

Done at the City of Manila, this 25th day of April, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and forty, and of the Commonwealth of the Philippines, the fifth.
