[ EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 80, December 23, 1936 ]

PROVIDING FOR A PRELIMINARY ENUMERATION OF DWELLINGS IN CONNECTION WITH THE FORTHCOMING TAKING OF A NEW CENSUS IN THE PHILIPPINES UNDER COMMONWEALTH ACT NO. 170

WHEREAS Commonwealth Act Numbered One hundred seventy, approved at the last special session of the National Assembly, provides for the taking of a new census in the Philippines; and

WHEREAS, in order to prepare the way for this forthcoming undertaking, it is deemed necessary to know beforehand the number of all dwellings existing in the country so that the assignment of the enumerators can be better arranged;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, MANUEL L. QUEZON, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, hereby order that a preliminary enumeration of all dwellings in each barrio or district of every chartered city, municipality, or municipal district shall be undertaken by the chief executives thereof or, in their absence, by the officials acting in their stead; who will be assisted by the members of the city boards or municipal councils and by the policemen and barrio lieutenants, and the results of such enumeration shall be directly reported to the Census Commissioner on or before June thirtieth, nineteen hundred and thirty-seven. In making this preliminary enumeration, the dwellings should be provided with proper numbers that can be seen conspicuously from the outside and should be grouped by street, barrio, district, or other convenient political subdivision.1âшphi1

Done at the City of Manila, this twenty-third day of December, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and thirty-six, and of the Commonwealth of the Philippines, the second.
