[ EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 53, September 09, 1936 ]

AMENDING EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 8, CURRENT SERIES, BY PROVIDING A NEW TIME LIMIT FOR CIVIL SERVICE QUALIFICATION FOR EMPLOYEES THEREIN MENTIONED

WHEREAS, the National Assembly has by resolution adopted August tenth, nineteen hundred and thirty-six.1âшphi1

Resolved, That it is the sense of the National Assembly that those employees of the Government who are now in the unclassified list and are required by Executive Order Numbered Eight to qualify in the Civil Service within one year from the first examination to be held, should be given another year, during which to qualify, after the expiration of the one-year period provided for in said Executive Order; and that, during the period provided herein, and in Executive Order Numbered Eight, the employees concerned shall be given an opportunity to take the examinations three times,”

NOW, THEREFORE, I, MANUEL L. QUEZON, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers in me vested by law, amend, as I hereby do amend that portion of Executive Order Numbered Eight, current series, by extending the period therein provided within which to qualify in Civil Service examination one more year, within which total combined period the employees concerned shall be given an opportunity to take the examination three times.
